Since the mid-1920s, the small Dutch company BOVA had been producing various bodies, including buses. It wasn't until the 1980s that it gained international recognition with the
creation of the Future, a tour bus that was unusual for its time.
In 1983, BOVA attempted to make its Futura tour buses more recognizable by introducing a distinctive rounded front panel with a large windshield, small
rectangular headlights, sloping fuel tank pillars, and a raised rear roof resembling a "wing. " Technically, the BOVA Futura differs little from serial products from other
companies.
The rear overhang of the buses equipped with a choice of MAN, Mercedes-Benz, or DAF turbocharged diesel engines with outputs of 280-428 hp. Various 8-speed manual and ZF hydromechanical transmissions are also available upon request. The suspension of all wheels is pneumatic (front independent), the braking system equipped with ABS.
The front brakes are disc. The basic 2-axle versions of the Futura FLD12. 300 and FHX12. 370, 12 m long, have a wheelbase of 6090 mm and a capacity of 49-55 people.
In 2000, the FHD12 370 bus presented in a VIP version (mobile saloon), and the length of the most powerful 2-axle model FHD14. 430 increased to 13. 5 m. A 3-axle 15-meter bus FHD15. 430 (6x2) with 49 seats is also produced.
The height of the different versions is 3270-3540 mm.
By 2000, more than 5000 of these buses were manufactured.
In late 1999, BOVA introduced the 12-meter Magiq coach, developed based on the Futura series with the assistance of Design Consultants. The driver's compartment is almost completely surrounded by large, convex windows.
All these features create a highly attractive, fresh, and harmonious style. The buses bear the factory designations HD12. 340XF and HD12. 380XF, where the XF designation indicates the use of diesel engines from DAF 95XF trucks, producing 340 and 380 hp, respectively. This allowed BOVA to be included in the DAF service network.
