Hengtong has a history spanning over 70 years. In 1950, it began producing the first Chinese bus with a domestically designed body, the Jiefang type.
Today, Hengtong is one of the five largest bus manufacturers in China and ranks first in the country for alternative fuel vehicles - gas, electric, and hybrid vehicles.
Every year, over 5,000 new buses roll out of the factory. These are city and tourist buses ranging in length from 4.8 to 13.7 meters and with a capacity of 9 to 80 passengers.
At the Busworld Asia exhibition, Hengtong awarded the prestigious Grand Prix: Grand BAAV Award – Bus Builder of the Year 2011.
At its booth, the company showcased two new products. The first is a low-floor
120-seat city bus, the CKZ6127, from the Mighty Dragon family, powered by electric traction.
A distinctive design feature is a dual charging port, doubling the charging time. At the show, the bus was awarded three BAAV awards in the city bus class:
Grand Prix (Grand Award Bus), Innovation Award Bus (for innovative design), and Award Environment (for environmental friendliness).
The second exhibit is a three-axle, 12.5-meter city bus from the new MAN Series family.
Externally closely resembling the German MAN Lion's models, the Chinese "brother" CKZ 6146 AGG was recognized by the jury for its original design and spacious
body.
